It’s been several years since I first picked up Telekinesis and started playing with it. It definitely has it’s ups and downs. Some days where you could swear you could move a truck, and others where moving anything seems like a fleeting dream. Telekinesis is a lot of work, and as the days grow shorter, sometimes I don’t feel like I have enough time in the day to practice it.
I intended for the post to be out a few days ago, but then family came by, and Halloween (My favorite holiday by far) was upon me, so I sort of put it aside until a bit later. I only got about 13 trick-or-treaters, is it just me, or has the Halloween lost some of it flare? It just seems each year I get less and less trick-or-treaters, which is sad.
Anyways, a few weeks ago I was in a bookstore with my mom looking for anything that might catch our eye, as we do from time to time. I often haunt the Religion section, as that’s where they put the books on metaphysics and psychics and stuff. Specifically I was looking for something on Telekinesis, but they almost never have anything in there. So, eventually I gave in and sought a clerk to see if there was a book in on the subject that I might have missed. When I asked her if she had any books on Telekinesis, she gave a real puzzled and surprised look, which I thought was funny, but in the end, she didn’t find any.
About that time, my mom came around carrying a few books that apparently caught her attention. She began looking a little bit with me, and after a while she pointed out a book I might like. It was called Solitary Witch: The Ultimate Book of Shadows for the New Generation by Silver RavenWolf. So I went ahead and thumbed through it a little, and was a bit surprised at the content. At 558 pages long, not counting the notes at the end, it wasn’t shy on information. After some mental debate, I decided to go ahead and buy it, figuring it would be a good read.
Now, I used to own one of her books a long time ago, it was “To Ride a Silver Broomstick”, and I knew she was a good writer and I was familiar with her so I knew it would be at least decent. Magic(k) and Witchcraft were something I was into before I got into Telekinesis. In-fact, Magick and Witchcraft is probably what led me to Telekinesis.
So I took it home and started reading. I’m not done reading it as of yet, but I couldn’t help but notice so many parallels between what is taught about Mind over Matter and Magick. She does an excellent job of explaining Witchcraft, and Paganism in general, including Wicca. But probably most importantly, it reminded me of the spiritual sides involved in it.
In her book, she promotes very highly the use of your imagination to aid you in filling in any gaps.
Some of the things in common with Telekinesis is -
Construct
I was surprised the see the Psi-ball, or energy ball as it is mention in her book. To those in Psionics, a construct is a very familiar form of energy manipulation and control. Learned in order to better put you in touch with your own energy and help you move it around, and form it into shapes or program it to do simple tasks. She even speaks of imprinting a thought or feeling into it and then passing it around to see how many others can pick up on the thought or feeling.
Ritual
The Ritual seems exclusively Witchcraft oriented, but, it actually has a lot to do with Constructs mentioned above. A Ritual is a lot like a Construct in the fact that instead of mentally instilling your intent, you are using action through words, movements and tools that have meaning, which define and energize your objective, then send it out to have it be done, much like you would a psi-ball.
Meditation
Meditation wasn’t all the surprising, as it seems to be in everything nowadays. Though I can see why, with at least the mental benefits involved. Much of the same methods for meditation are used in Magick as they are in Telekinesis. Both of these require a sharp focused mind, in order to bring about the change you desire.
Focus needs to be cultivated in order to have a clear intent, in which the energy you use can flow through.
Chakras
I was actually surprised to see chakras mentioned. I didn’t remember them being a big part of Magick, but it was interesting to see them mentioned. It was important to understand the energy centers inside yourself so you can better draw from them, and understand how energy moves through you.
Higher Self
Connecting to your higher self is of prime importance in Magick, as your Soul or Spirit is where the magic comes from. To be in-tune with that magical part of you that is connected to everything. It is pretty self explanatory as Telekinesis often emphasizes on the same thing. Meditation obviously helps in this department.
Belief
She mentions the importance of believing very thoroughly. That Magick doesn’t work if you don’t believe it will. It opens the heart and loosens the mind, and your able to find more strength and conviction in yourself and your ability to create change where it is needed.
Believing is very pivotal to both Telekinesis and Magick. If you can’t believe in it, then at least try and keep and open mind about it.
Growth
Above all else, both promote self growth. Witchcraft, also known as the Craft of the Wise, is a path in which you dedicate yourself to spiritual and mental growth. Learning the world around you and expanding with that knowledge. Becoming a whole being, and not just physical body who happens to think. Understanding both the connectedness of the world, and it’s individual aspects.
Many who pursue Telekinesis don’t know that it’s all about self growth as well. I had to figure it out the hard way. In-fact I’m still figuring it out.
Those where just some of the similarities between Telekinesis and Magick. It’s fairly short, but it is after all covering things they have it common, so the material has already been over once or twice. There are some things in the book that aren’t related that may help, but I’m still reading it at the moment. It is kind of cool to see so many beliefs out there that involve many of the same characteristics and practices. It helps me believe in it all the more.
Magick, Witchcraft and Telekinesis are all very spiritual paths, and I’m glad I picked up that book, as I was quickly forgetting how spiritual the world really is.
Till next time.
